Praying For Your Family: Leaving an Eternal Legacy

With the downward spiral of our world, it is more critical than ever to remain constant in covering our families with prayer. Whether you are sending your child to school or your spouse is leaving for work, here are several scriptures and directives that can help guide your prayer for your family. Prayer can strengthen, grow, and keep our families focused on the Kingdom of God. When we put on the whole armor of God, begin to pray the Word, and plead the blood of Jesus, the kingdom of God is acknowledged and allowed to operate with authority to provide and protect our families.
Joshua 24:15 says, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
The Word provides focus and sheds light on God’s divine will for our lives. Listed below are some scriptures you can pray over your family. Insert the names of your children or others you want to see become all that God wants them to be.

1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called _______ is holy, so  _______ be holy in all manner of conversations.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given _______ a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Additional scripture to pray is James 1: 5-8.) Declare a capacity for growth.
  • A spirit of SELF-DENIAL.

  • A spirit of REPENTANCE.
