God Wants You to Be Successful

Life is busy these days. Many are either in school, working full-time, or involved in other responsibilities to meet the demands of life. These activities, or responsibilities, may be things you even felt the Lord call you to do or be a part of. However, it is still important to remember to stay grounded in our mission and purpose in God.

It is vital for us to realize that God wants us to develop a sense of significance by working for a purpose greater than ourselves. Too many seek happiness and not significance. Remember, God wants you to be a success. He told Joshua in Joshua 1:8 (KJV), “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”  The word is a powerful tool to think about, to read about, and to speak about to others as well as yourself. By doing so, our way will become prosperous, and He will give us good success.

Listen to the personal testimony of Ashleigh Gardner:

“Throughout busy seasons while I was in school, I had made up my mind to not miss services, or anything church related due to school. By making that commitment, doing my rule of five, and asking God for help, He helped me be academically successful every semester by maintaining the Dean’s List. There were many nights I felt like I would be unsuccessful, however, I knew in my spirit that God wanted me to finish my degree. Because I sought God first, He helped me be successful in the midst of the chaos of balancing church, family, school, and work. Through it all, I was able to draw closer to God, be involved in church like never before, and finish my degree with English honors.”

Faithful saint, don’t be discouraged in thinking that you can’t be successful in your daily responsibilities of life. God wants you to be successful. You may be a full-time, stay-at-home mother who is busy maintaining your children or you may be a full-time, working mother who still holds the responsibility of caring for her family. You may even be a husband who is working full-time as well as going to school full-time to earn a college degree. Wherever you are in life, you can be successful and still remain Kingdom focused.

Life can still get overwhelming and, sometimes, amid all the busyness, as we feel the pressure of life creep in on us, we can lose sight of our mission. However, if we commit our life purpose to God, He can make a way for us to be successful despite feeling overwhelmed. God can elevate you on your job; God can help you be successful in your daily work tasks. God can even help you be successful in maintaining your scholarship for your degree. You don’t have to sacrifice your faithfulness to God and your Kingdom focus in order to be successful in your responsibilities of life.

Let’s look at David for example. David was a successful and anointed King of Israel. David triumphed over all of his enemies, had a lasting legacy, and was an ancestor of Jesus Christ. As we read throughout the scriptures, we can observe that it was because David was faithful to God and His kingdom that the Lord made him successful and raised him up. Looking at 2 Samuel 7 (KJV) starting at verse 8, it says, “Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:” and, continuing to verse 9, “And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.” Here, the Lord shows how He made David successful. Of course, there were times that David failed and had to repent before the Lord; however, he repented and then continued to serve the Lord. David never gave up, but he trusted and submitted to God daily and, in so doing, God helped him be successful in his responsibilities of life.

Here are some tips to help you stay focused through all of life’s busy seasons: Be intentional about your Rule of Five; commit to God that you will remain faithful to Him; and don’t be afraid to ask for His help.

God has promised through his Word that if we will use these keys, it will unlock our destiny and we will succeed in our purpose:

  • In Humility, we learn that true greatness is in serving others. (Philippians 2: 6-8)
  • In Discipline, we learn that God disciplines those he loves and that we need self-discipline to bring a harvest of righteousness and peace. (Proverbs 3:11-12)
  • In Vision, we learn that a man of purpose has vision and that vision builds excitement, optimism, and hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)
  • In Wisdom, we learn to have insight, knowledge, and judgment. (Proverbs 1:7)
  • In Decision, we learn that decisions must be made through the Holy Spirit. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • In Courage, we learn that acting on our beliefs in boldness and confidence enables us to gain the courage to bear the difficulties in life. (Joshua 1:9)
  • In Integrity, we learn that the inner sense of wholeness derives from such qualities as truthfulness, fairness, and responsibility. (1 Chronicles 29:17, Luke 8:15)

Daily dedication to prayer and scripture will help develop these principles within us.  When we embrace these principles, we will have a clear sense of divine calling, personal integrity, spiritual depth, and a dependence on Christ. As you develop these key principles into your life, don’t be afraid to ask God for help. Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) tells us, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” God wants to help us even in the responsibilities of our everyday lives. Seek the Lord and allow Him to help you in your weakness. David did not become successful because of his own might or talent but because the Lord strengthened and anointed him to accomplish a Kingdom purpose. Because of his daily relationship with the Lord, he remained faithful and accountable. God wants to help you be the best employee, father, mother, or student you can be while you remain Kingdom focused in all you do. Seeking the Lord in the everyday can lead to a lifetime of success through Him.
